After almost a week, I can’t believe people are still talking about Miley Cyrus’ hosting gig at the VMAs. There was plenty to cover, from Miley’s beef with Nicki Minaj (which I still think was real) to her chronic cultural appropriation. As a follow up (and Miley’s team is so strategic yet invisible), Miley shot a NSFW pr0n shoot. Luckily, Azealia Banks spoke up and took the focus away from Miley’s girls by calling Miley (and everyone) “basic.“ Azealia can be insufferable, but that was a funny rant. Miley probably died at the very word “basic.”
Now Pink is chiming in. She made these comments on her private Instagram (she deleted her public account in 2012), and someone leaked a screenshot. Here’s what Pink thought of what Miley did on Sunday night:
“I felt embarrassed and sad. And old. We’re getting old. But in all seriousness; I felt sad because music is supposed to inspire. It saved my life. This trash won’t save any kid’s life. In a world that is even scarier, who will stand up and have soul? Disenfranchised to say the least. Let down by my industry and peers. Beside Macklemore and pharell and bieber (pre-sob fest) and the weekend, Tori Kelly was dope too. The rest was gross and embarrassing and hard for this aging pop star to believe.”

So Pink is upset about the state of the music industry, which she says has changed from when she rose to stardom. I like Pink, but I think she forgot all about her own antics, especially in her “Slut Like You” song. Pink never climbed to thirsty heights like Miley, but she wasn’t a saint either. And — y’all are gonna kill me for this — Pink is a straight-up pop singer. Her songs are catchy but not particularly profound. I agree that Miley was pretty gross on VMAs night though. There’s no other way to describe that show.
For the official public record, Pink did publicly praise Tori Kelly on VMAs night.
Ok @ToriKelly – fan for life. Great freaking performance tonight, you live singing, guitar playing accapella sanging woman.

Oh, and this tweet probably reveals the straight-up truth.
I'm convinced MTV just bought up all dispensaries before airing this show
