Is Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, William Bowery on Folklore? That’s the question many people are asking after fans noticed a few things about the unidentified person receiving songwriting credits on Taylor’s eighth studio album. Taylor announced earlier on Thursday, July 23, 2020, that at midnight she would release her new album and she shared multiple photos on Instagram and discussed the people who played an important part in the album’s creation. She tagged multiple people in her post except for one named: William Bowery. Fans also looked up the songwriter and couldn’t find any information on anyone by that name.
As William Bowery was attributed to not one, songwriting credit but two, many people believe that the name is a pseudonym for Joe Alwyn.
Taylor Swift stated the following.
“Tonight at midnight I’ll be releasing my entire brand new album of songs I’ve poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into. I wrote and recorded this music in isolation but got to collaborate with some musical heroes of mine; @aarondessner (who has co-written or produced 11 of the 16 songs), @boniver (who co-wrote and was kind enough to sing on one with me), William Bowery (who co-wrote two with me) and @jackantonoff (who is basically musical family at this point). Engineered by Laura Sisk and Jon Low, mixed by Serban Ghenea & Jon Low. The album photos were shot by the amazing @bethgarrabrant.”

There is even a conspiracy theory that goes along with the notion that Joe Alwyn is actually William Bowery. According to the theory, William was used as it was the name of Joe’s grandfather who was a composer. The Bowery Hotel in New York City is where Taylor and Joe first spent time during the beginning of their relationship. Fans have put all of the clues together and many are convinced that a songwriter named “William Bowery” will never surface as they think it is none other than Joe Alwyn!

There is little to no info on a songwriter with that name, and one of the couple’s first meetings was at the Bowery Hotel in NYC. pic.twitter.com/k4ZEviVtmK
